Britta Marakatt-Labba (Sápmi/Sweden, 1951) is currently one of most sought-after artists from the Nordic region. In 2017, viewers at documenta 14 were duly impressed and touched by her captivating visual and narrative skills. In Athens she showed smaller textile images, while in Kassel her 24-metre-long Historjá(History) dominated the documenta-Halle: a magnificent frieze reminding us that this particular history – that of her own people – has been kept deliberately invisible.
